Today’s lecture begins a two day series on the revolutionary developments in ancient Indian thought during what is sometimes called the Upanishadic Era. After discussing the challenges such thinkers posed to the Vedic concentration on ritual and priests, we begin to discuss yoga, both in its philosophy and, after watching a HYSTERICAL video, juxtaposing such to the modern American form of yoga. We end the day by becoming familiar with Brahman, perhaps the closest Hindu thought comes to a western conception of God.
